Our assessments are conducted by registered clinical psychologists and are thorough, evidence-based, and designed to provide clear answers and practical recommendations. We are neurodiversity-affirming and rainbow-friendly.

This service may not be suitable if you are currently experiencing significant mood changes (e.g., mania), psychosis, substance dependence, or other mental health concerns requiring psychiatric assessment. In these situations, we recommend speaking with your GP about a referral to a psychiatrist.Please note: This service provides psychological assessment only. We do not prescribe medication. Your diagnostic report can be shared with your GP or psychiatrist, who may discuss medication options if appropriate.

What to expect

Step 1: Get in touch to request an assessment. We’ll confirm suitability, discuss options (ADHD, autism, or combined), and arrange your appointment.Step 2: Complete consent forms and intake questionnaires.Step 3: Complete standardised questionnaires. Where possible, two people who know you well (e.g., partner, parent, close friend) will also complete collateral questionnaires.Step 4: Attend your assessment session (in-person in Tauranga or via telehealth), which includes a structured clinical interview in line with DSM-5-TR criteria.Step 5: With your consent, we may interview a family member and/or friend who knows you well.Step 6: All information is reviewed to determine whether diagnostic criteria for ADHD and/or autism are met, or to provide diagnostic clarification.Step 7: You will receive a comprehensive written report outlining findings and recommendations.Step 8: (Optional) A feedback session is offered to discuss the outcome and next steps.

Autism (ASD) Assessment: $1500 + GST
Combined ADHD/ASD Assessment: $1800 + GST
Optional feedback session: $150 + GST
A comprehensive adult assessment includes a clinical interview, standardised assessment measures, review of developmental history, diagnostic formulation, and a detailed written report.Payment plans are available.Please note: This service provides psychological assessment only. About Us

Bay Psychology Services connects you with experienced Clinical Psychologists registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board. Our psychologists are based in Tauranga Moana, and assessments can be completed either in-person or online for clients anywhere in New Zealand.

Amelia RyanAmelia is a Clinical Psychologist who is committed to creating a warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental space for her clients. She provides both assessment and therapy for a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, autism, ADHD, gender dysphoria, and difficulties arising during pregnancy and the postpartum period.Through Bay Psychology Services, Amelia conducts ADHD and autism assessments with adults and aims to make the process as comfortable, supportive, and affirming as possible.

Meg O’SullivanMeg is a Clinical Psychologist registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board. Originally from Ireland, she has experience supporting adolescents and adults across a range of mental health settings.Through Bay Psychology Services, Meg provides comprehensive assessments and aims to create a calm and respectful process that helps people make sense of their experiences.

Legal and Ethical Information

Assessment Process: Assessments are conducted by registered Clinical Psychologists and involve clinical interview, review of relevant history, and standardised assessment tools where appropriate. Diagnosis is based on DSM-5-TR criteria and clinical judgement. An assessment does not automatically result in a diagnosis. Outcomes may include confirmation of a diagnosis, a provisional diagnosis, or a finding that criteria are not met. Where helpful, we may request collateral information (e.g., from a partner or family member) with your consent.Confidentiality: Information shared during assessment is confidential, with limits required by law (for example, where there is serious risk of harm, or if records are lawfully requested by a court).
Reports are prepared for you and can be shared with third parties (e.g., GP, psychiatrist, employer, or tertiary provider) at your request. Records are stored securely in accordance with New Zealand privacy legislation.
Medication: Clinical Psychologists do not prescribe medication. If appropriate, we may recommend consultation with a GP or psychiatrist.Telehealth: Assessments are available in person or via secure telehealth. Telehealth meets clinical standards; however, some external agencies may require in-person or multidisciplinary assessment for funding or support eligibility. When attending online, you are responsible for ensuring a private and confidential space.External Agencies: We cannot guarantee that external agencies (e.g., employers, tertiary providers, or government services) will accept or implement recommendations made in reports.Concerns or Complaints: If you have concerns about the service you receive, we encourage you to discuss these with us directly. You may also contact the New Zealand Psychologists Board.This service provides non-urgent clinical assessment and does not offer crisis or emergency care. If you are in crisis or at immediate risk, please call 111, attend your nearest Emergency Department, or contact your local crisis service.
